December 2009 TRENCH SURF BOAT ACTIVITY
With a crisp cool morning, light South/South Easterly winds and the sun rising off the horizon. The conditions were set for a perfect end of year Personal Training session at Scarborough Beach. Scarboro Surf Life Saving Club kindly donated two of their surf boats along with very experienced sweeps for an hour. The challenge was to learn how to row (to start with) as a team and finishing off with a race at the end to see who could put what they learnt into practice.
With four rowers in each boat with the caliber of the CEOs of Market Force, Cam Build, Tim Davies Landscaping, and Primepoint Assets. The morning was a fun and challenging team building event, with team work and synchronization the key to a successful row.
All participants enjoyed the event; with it being a talking point for weeks after. Trench Health and Fitness have a range of different team building events and activities through out the year. Partaking in Trench Team Events is both beneficial for you and your business as you gain great team building skills as well as promotion.
There are a number of events planned for 2010, including training weekends, to find out more, or to organise an event for your business or group of friends contact Brad or Jason at our Shenton Park Gym.

A big thanks to ‘Sumo’ Josh for taking the photographs
NEW ARRIVAL

TOUR DE FRANCE WITH TRENCH: 6th July – 27th July 2009
Tour de France is arguably the most physiologically demanding event in the world. The physical effort has been compared to running a marathon several days a week for nearly three weeks. While the total elevation of the climbs have been compared to climbing Everest three times. The riders on the tour will cover approximately 3500km over three weeks.
Trench Health and Fitness staff at the Shenton Park gym have embraced this event running their own Tour for the past two years with the riders competing for three jerseys. Yellow for the overall winner, Green for the best sprint / time trail and the most sort after jersey the Trench Jersey. In the past the competition was open to all members but this year it has been made available to only the Circuit members and PT clients. The riders log their kilometers on the LeMond spin bikes which are fitted with pilots which keep track of time, distance, RPM’s and heart rates. At the end of each session the instructor logs all the riders’ details into a spreadsheet which calculates total distance covered, total time and average speed per kilometer. Just like the real race riders have days on the flat, in the mountains and even team time trails. So not only do the members have to contend with a vast range of riding conditions but also must complete their resistance training in between the time on the bike.
The Journey to Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro
There is something to say about getting the instructions right. On the day in question I managed to mix up the adventure companies presentation nights. As fate would have it, both adventure companies had presentation evenings on the same night. Instead of the high Arctic cruise evening I ended up at the mountain climbing adventures night. Not to be discouraged I ventured in and listened to the high energy presentation. I don’t know what happened; maybe it was the hot evening, poor ventilation or free wine but I ended up booking myself and my wife (that’s another story) on the Mt Kilimanjaro climbing tour. Being so easily led I also paid the $800 deposit on the night!

Trench Prepares Grandparents for The Lost World!
We have just returned from an exciting adventure to see the world’s ‘tallest’ waterfall, Angel
Falls, in Venezuela. The Falls are located in the Southeast of Venezuela, at the northern-most
reaches of the massive Amazonian rainforest,
and the only way to see them is to travel to a
very, very remote location.
The adventure starts in Caracas ... [More] |
