Trench recruits new swim coach!
ERIN SHAW - will be joining Peter Trench and Dave Scott on Pool deck
Just a short descriptor of myself for those that are unaware of my back ground. My name is Erin Shaw and I have been involved in swimming for most of my life. As a child I trained and swam in the competitive arena enjoying most of my success in butterfly and freestyle. Later as pool swimming became less attractive I turned to competitive middle distance running and continued my swimming at Trigg Island Surf Club. I have continued my interest in swimming as my daughter has been a National level disability swimmer for ten years. Currently I am the Junior Development coach for swan Hills Swimming Club and have a squad of entry level to state level swimmers of about 35. I have my Green Licence coaching accreditation and I am currently completing my study hours for my Bronze Licence from SWA.
I have enjoyed learning new skills and honing older ones under my mentor coaches, Ian Mills and Grant Henry, both national level senior coaches. I hope to pass on my knowledge to the Trench Health and Fitness Squad and I am more than happy to help with any personal queries that anybody may have. I believe, from what I have seen, that many triathletes treat swimming as a necessary evil to achieve their end result in an event. I believe that concentrating more on technique and providing a variation in training sets will be of benefit to most athletes rather than just churning out lots of miles. I hope my association with Trench Health and Fitness is of benefit to the athletes involved.
